When nominations closed for the 2024 T.J. Lafeber Avian Practitioner of the Year, a list of 20 outstanding avian veterinarians had been submitted for consideration. The independent Selection Committee narrowed the list to three finalists and the Award recipient, Dr. Lauren Powers, was announced during the Plenary Session at the 45th Annual Conference of the Association of Avian Veterinarians.

Dr. Lauren V. Powers, DVM, DABVP (Avian Practice) is Specialty Service Chief of the Avian and Exotic Pet Service at Carolina Veterinary Specialists. Throughout her career, Dr. Powers has strived to advance the field of avian medicine through teaching, mentorship, and professional service.
